The term "anxiety disorder" covers a wide range of different anxieties. From panic attacks, to fear of flying. The sufferer has an illogical fear of certain things. The most well known are the social anxieties, with millions of people around the globe affected by these particular anxieties. Insecurity, a lack of self-confidence, bad childhood, bullying - these words are all associated with the disorder. Many people have never build up confidence that was supposed to be developed during childhood. Others have a distorted view of themselves. A lack of confidence in their abilities can slow down development, and severely disrupt social life.

Everyone experiences anxiety at some point in their lives, this is a natural reaction to stress. Anxiety can keep us focused on the job that's in front of us, like school exams. When the anxiety takes control over your life it becomes an obstacle to progress. At this point it is important to seek treatment. Your job, school performance, relationships can all be affected if you do not take action. It is called a "disabling disorder" for a reason.

Here are some signs that you may have an anxiety disorder:

- Does your heart feel like it's about to jump out of your chest before a presentation at work?

- Do you have fears that you know are illogical?

- Are you obsessed with doing things the way you feel you need to do them, and think if you don't do them exactly like you have in mind you will be punished?

- Do you see danger at every new place you go?

These are just a few signs/symptoms. There are many more, however these are the most common.

Anxiety disorders is a group of disorders with many different effects. People affected can show very different signs. They all lead to insecurity, something that can be a very disrupting force in people's life. In short : Anxiety disorders create fear where there should be none. If you notice you have fears about things that your friends and/or family have no fear of, you may have an anxiety disorder.

It is reassuring to know that there are several ways to treat anxiety disorder. You may feel better talking to a professional, or you could join a group of people with the same anxieties. There are many groups, both online and offline, that are more than willing to listen to you. Discussing your fears with like-minded people can be very relaxing.
